Residential fires are occurring with alarming frequency with fire departments in the U.S. responding to approximately two million fire calls each year. More than 4,000 Americans die and approximately 20,000 are injured each year. Even more alarming is the United States has more firefighters die in the line of duty  than the rest of the world’s fire service combined annually. On a per capita basis the U.S. fire problem is one of the worst in the industrialized world.

Not only are residences constructed of many flammable materials, but relatively recent developments in residential construction compound the inherent fire risk and cause structural deterioration of residential structures to occur more rapidly than ever before. Approximately 85% of all U.S. fire deaths occurred in residences with 50% of residential fires being reported between 10pm and 6am when people are asleep.

In an effort to save lives Quick-Finders™ were developed. Quick-Finders™ is a patented two-part system including a unique guidance device and search method to assist rescue personnel in quickly locating bedrooms where most potential fire victims become trapped.  This two-part system consists of one Door Identification Decal placed on the entrance door of the home to alert firefighters the house is equipped with Quick-Finders™. The second part is a reflective device that is attached to the hinge side of the baseboard molding or door jamb molding outside each bedroom door. This reflective device helps firefighters quickly locate bedrooms during search and rescue missions.
